CAMP DIRECTOR: JON THOMPSON, HEAD COACH, AMHERST COLLEGE
HEAD AMHERST LACROSSE COACH (6th SEASON)

Coach Thompson begins his 6th year at Amherst in 2016. During his tenure at Amherst he has a record of 62-28 (69%). In 2015 he helped guide Amherst to a program record 18 wins surpassing the program win mark set in 2014, and 2011 of 15 wins.  In 2011 he helped guide the Amherst program to a 15-3 record, the best record in Amherst Lacrosse history to that point. In 2011, The Lord Jeff's finished the season tied for first in the NESCAC as well as making the first NCAA appearance in program history, advancing to the NCAA Elite 8. He came to Amherst after two successful seasons at Colby College, where he posted an 18-13 record. Thompson helped lead Colby to it's first NESCAC tournament appearance, it's first winning season in 10 years, and the most NESCAC wins the program has seen in 8 years during his first season. In his second year at Colby, Thompson and Colby topped the 10 win mark, which is another high water mark at Colby.
 
Prior to Colby he was the assistant coach for three seasons at his alma mater, Brown University, helping the Bears to the team's first ivy league championship in 15 years. Thompson also spent one year at Springfield College. As a player, Thompson earned All New England, All Academic All New England, All-Ivy League, Academic All Ivy League, All-America and Academic All American honors as an attackman before playing for MLL'S Boston Cannons. Thompson is currently pursuing his PHD in sports and exercise psychology from Springfield College.
 

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR:  TAYLOR MENDOZA, AMHERST COLLEGE. 
ASSISTANT COACH, AMHERST COLLEGE (1st SEASON)

A 2013 graduate of SUNY- Cortland, Mendoza comes to Amherst from Saratoga Springs, NY, where he served for the last two years as the first assistant coach at Skidmore College.  While at Skidmore, Mendoza mentored the face off men, the offense, the extra man and was in charge of organization responsibilities including player development, scouting reports and film analysis.  Mendoza is an excellent evaluator of talent, and will be integral in Amherst's recruiting efforts moving forward.  His focus on innovation technologically and on the lacrosse field will help the Lord Jeffs take the next step in their program development.
